DOT Secretary Appoints New Members to Human Trafficking Committee

Their work raises awareness of human trafficking in the transportation sector.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is partnering with leaders in the transportation industry as well as state and local public officials to raise awareness and prevent human trafficking. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently appointed 15 new members to the Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking. Committee members shape Transportation Department policies to better address human trafficking.

Members of the committee represent every facet of the nation’s transportation sector, from aviation and trucking to shipping and railways. There are also survivors and advocates who consult with other victims regularly to gain insight into the inner workings of this criminal activity.

“Transportation workers and the traveling public have a key role to play in the fight against human trafficking – which is why it’s so important for everyone to recognize the signs and be prepared to report it,” said Secretary Buttigieg.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary Buttigieg as he appoints committee members to the committee to stop human trafficking.
  • For Transportation Department officials as they support training and information regarding human trafficking in the travel industry.
  • For law enforcement seeking to free those who are captives in human trafficking.
  • For healing for the survivors of human trafficking and their advocates.
